Giving back and giving thanks: How ICE Mortgage Technology employees are making a difference this holiday season

  •  By ICE Mortgage Technology

By: Jonas Moe, SVP of Marketing and Market Strategy, ICE Mortgage Technology

As we head into the final months of 2021, ICE Mortgage Technology™ employees have been getting a jump on giving back and giving thanks. As we have in the past, we look at October as a time to give back, and this year is no different. Over the past few months, teammates organized both large and small volunteer opportunities to make a company-wide difference across the country, where over $30,000 in materials and supplies were donated in total.

Check out the activities that ICE Mortgage Technology employees participated in during our Giving Back season below.

Making a difference across the nation

In September 2021, ICE Mortgage Technology’s Black Professionals Employee Resource Group, specifically Adina Holmes, LaTanya Stewart, and Mia Stewart, partnered with four charities for the October Month of Giving Back in order to make a difference.

Angel Tree

Since 1982, Angel Tree has delivered more than 11 million Christmas gifts to children across the nation. Thousands of children with a guardian in prison unwrap joy each year with Angel Tree Christmas™—a gift that reminds them they are valued and loved. The map above shows all the children across the United States who benefited from ICE Mortgage Technology donations. To learn more about Angel Tree, please visit their website.

Rosie’s Place

In 1974, Rosie’s Place established the first shelter for women in the country. They created a sanctuary of hope, a place where every woman was welcomed, and where they’re still welcomed today. Along with donations, a special gift was provided to the most recent group of 20 program graduates, who are now moving into permanent housing. Look to see how you can still help.

The Delores Project

The Delores Project partners with individuals experiencing barriers to housing to identify their path to stability. By providing shelter, housing, and supportive services, The Delores Project works alongside individuals as they overcome barriers and challenges. The National Center for Children and Families

NCCF operates on four integrated pillars of service: community support, education and training, volunteerism, and advocacy. Their programs provide comprehensive and tailored services offered with cultural humility that help children, youth, and families become confident and self-sufficient, leaving dependency, trauma, and poverty behind. Pleasanton Military Families – Winter pack out

On Saturday, November 20, 2021, the 18th annual Pleasanton Military Families held their holiday/winter pack-out event, and they had an amazing turnout this year! The Tri-Valley community came through big-time with such an outpouring of support and love for our troops. Every single day for the last month, our PMF doorstep was filled with Amazon boxes and people driving up with armloads of donations. Lisa Imperiale, Executive Assistant to Joe Tyrrell, President of ICE Mortgage Technology, spearheaded a company-wide fundraising effort. She had this to say, “When I first reached out to our community last month for donations, the only items PMF had were Gatorade powder packets and travel toothpaste. And by November 19, their storage unit was completely full. They have NEVER seen this level of donations before, and we are beyond grateful. Truly amazing!”

Last Saturday, November 20, they packed 214 boxes that are on the way to: Qatar, Germany, Japan, Honduras and, Colombia. We’re sending a big thanks go to all the volunteers who came out last weekend to help sort donations and pack boxes. The packages are sure to bring some holiday cheer to troops this Christmas. Every donation allowed PMF to provide essential supplies to hundreds of servicemen and servicewomen. To learn how you can (still) donate items, please visit their website.

David Arnold: Helping U.S. veterans

Our very own teammate David Arnold, a self-taught motorcycle restorer, is partnering with Iconic Motorbike Auctions and Operation Combat Bikesaver as he takes on restoring a 1982 Honda CB900F. David is raising money to bring life back to the old and battered motorcycle. David hopes to raise funds to be able to return the motorcycle to a mint-condition factory original, then sell it and donate the funds to Operation Combat Bikesaver.

Looking ahead

Our employees continue to humble us with their incredible generosity and participation in charitable events across the country. In the San Francisco Bay Area, we are working with Habitat for Humanity for an on-site day of volunteerism in the East Bay set for early Spring 2022. Stay tuned for more stories on how the ICE Mortgage Technology community is giving back and giving thanks.
